Introduction to Shakespeare

Shakespeare: we’ve all been there, spending hours looking at words and expressions that make little sense. The good news is I can help you interpret, evaluate, and review all Shakespearean plays and poetry.

My Introduction to Shakespeare course will help you unlock and unpack any of his plays you encounter on your English course. We all know how hard Shakespeare is, not least for students learning English as an additional language.

Come and join me in a group or even one-on-one, where I can work through every last part of the play you are studying. By the end of my courses, you won’t just be happy with reading one play; you will want to read more and discover how wonderful his language and works can be.

Poetry Forms 101
Introduction to Poetry Analysis

In the Poetry Forms 101 course, we unpack the genres you will face in school: villanelles, freeverse, narrative, ballads, sonnets, and lyrical poems are just some of the works you will encounter on this unit. What’s more, you will have a crash course in literary devices, poetic meter, and theme. By the end of this course, you will be more comfortable analysing any poetic form on your academic journey.

Poetry Forms 102
Advanced Poetry Analysis

In my advanced poetry course, we go that bit further, exploring harder and more obscure genres, poets, and forms. This course would suit anyone taking IGCSEs, AP English, or any IB English language class. Yet, you don’t need to be an advanced English student to succeed in these classes: you just need to bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn something new.

04

Creative Writing 101

This creative writing course teaches students how to write fiction with clarity, structure, and control. We cover the fundamentals of prose writing, including character development, narrative voice, dialogue, plot, and style. Through regular writing practice and direct feedback, students learn how to shape ideas into polished short stories. The course concludes with an assessed piece of original fiction that demonstrates technical progress and creative confidence. Ideal for students seeking structured fiction writing instruction and measurable improvement.

Visual Analysis and Academic English
Non-Literary Texts and Features

My visual analysis and academic english course develops the analytical writing skills required for modern English literature and media studies programmes. Students analyse visual texts such as political cartoons, advertisements, comic strips, and propaganda posters, learning how images create meaning and persuade audiences. Emphasis is placed on academic vocabulary, paragraph structure, and formal essay writing. The final assessment is a compare-and-contrast essay. This course supports success in secondary and pre-university English courses.

06

Integrated Fiction Close Reading
Literary Analysis Course

This literary analysis course trains students to read fiction closely and write about it with precision. Working through a complete novel or literary text, we examine language, structure, themes, and authorial intent on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Short analytical writing tasks reinforce interpretation and evidence-based argument. The course builds the close reading skills required for literature essays, exams, and academic discussion, making it ideal for students preparing for advanced English study.
